Celebrate Recovery

Sacred Heart Catholic Church
As Sacred Heart Catholic
Community on Boise’s Central Bench, we are called to help each person encounter the living Christ by participating in vibrant worship and prayer, deepening our nderstanding
of and witnessing the Gospel message, and reaching out to those in need.

Celebrate Recovery is a Christian centered recovery program based on the 12-Steps of AA and the 8 Beatitudes. It is for parishioners and others who have experienced many of life’s hurts, bad habits, and hang-ups. A hurt, habit, or hang-up is something that hinders our walk with God and with each other.

The Celebrate Recovery program was written by pastors Rick Warren (who wrote the book The Purpose Driven Life) and John Baker. In a group format we share our experiences, strengths and hopes with one another as we work on changing those habits in our lives that keep us from being a fully-functioning person which will then enhance our relationships with God and others. We receive God’s grace in overcoming our life problems. All of life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups are addressed through the curriculum used in a group format. Groups may include: alcohol and drug addictions, adult children of alcoholics, anger groups, co-dependency, eating problems, sexual addictions such as pornography, food addictions, financial recovery, love and relationships addictions, and those who have experienced sexual, physical, or emotional abuse.

FORMAT: Celebrate Recovery at Sacred Heart follows the same format and curriculum that was created and implemented by Rick Warren and John Baker at Saddleback Church. We meet on Thursday evenings for fellowship and food. We then gather in a large group meeting to present or listen to someone speak on the topic.  We also make announcements and prayer requests.  After a short break, we meet in gender based small groups to relate the topic to our lives and God's healing power. We also offer Step Study Courses, which takes a closer look at each principle and step, leading us on the road to recovery. These Step Study Courses take place throughout the year.
