Celebrate Recovery is a Christian centered recovery program based on the 12-Steps of AA and the 8 Beatitudes. It is for parishioners and others who have experienced many of life’s hurts, bad habits, and hang-ups. A hurt, habit, or hang-up is something that hinders our walk with God and with each other.
The Celebrate Recovery program was written by pastors Rick Warren who wrote the book The Purpose Driven Life and John Baker. In a group format we share our experiences, strengths and hopes with one another as we work on changing those habits in our lives that keep us from being a fully-functioning person which will then enhance our relationships with God and others. We receive God’s grace in overcoming our life problems. All of life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups are addressed through the curriculum used in a group format. Groups may include: alcohol and drug addictions, adult children of alcoholics, anger groups, co-dependency, eating problems, sexual addictions such as pornography, food addictions, financial recovery, love and relationships addictions, and those who have experienced sexual, physical, or emotional abuse.
FORMAT: Each Thursday night a Mass or Prayer service is offered in the Church followed by a one-hour New Comers group or Open Share Group based on the Beatitudes (all share groups are gender based). One other night of the week a Step-Study Group meets for 2 hours. The 12 step program is completed in 12-18 months. All groups are led by trained facilitators. Prayer teams are available on Thursday nights for anyone wanting individual prayer.
